Honor and Respect

Third post within 24 hours.

To cut it short, I do think that it is important that one plays with respect towards the opponent. How does one pay compliments and respect towards the opponent, then?

One, it's by honoring your opponent's ability in the game. In Kicks, you are either good at stealing, tackling, shooting goals, assisting, or being a jack-of-all-trades. Honoring your opponent's ability and crafting a strategy to defeat him and his team is the whole nine yards.

But what if your opponents aren't as strong, and your team unexpectedly fall behind them in a competition? Do you resort to methods that guarantee victory or draws, at the cost of other people's respect to you? Martin Taylor broke Eduardo's leg seriously, and although his team snatched two point from Arsenal in a 2-2 draw, what is left of people's respect towards Taylor, even if he claims that the injury was not intentional?

So whether or not you meant to exploit your opponent's weakness unfairly, it does not mean the non-intention to do so will let you off the hook.

The honor of the game is thus tainted, and the respect gone. The name calling from the accused continues, and the accuser keeps his peace. Hence I ask: What kind of community are we expecting to build up, then...?
